I never dreamt my first bike ride at the age of 13 years old would lead me into 36 years (and still counting) of a life completely immersed in all things cycling.

I was North East Junior Champion and my love racing my bike took me to competitions throughout the UK, Ireland, France and Belgium. My sense of adventure took me touring on my bike all around Europe; riding around the Dolomite mountain roads, around the Alps and the Camino de Santiago. Memories I will never forget.

At 16 I got my first job in a bike shop. For almost 20 years I worked at M Steel Cycles loving building bikes, selling bikes, bike maintenance, technical body fits and much, much more. My role diversified into a cycling consultant and this was the start of Bike 4 Health. I provide knowledge, expertise and guidance and valuable advice. My qualifications are Mountain Bike Leadership Award, Outdoor First Aid, Cytech Level 3 mechanic. Working towards my Forest School Practitioner, I am a member of British Cycling and the Forest School Association. I am also DBS covered.

My passion now is to help enable as many people as I can to use cycling in their lives. Exploring, commuting and staying healthy.

I rode my bike a lot in my teens and early twenties. When I passed my driving test I sadly gave up my bike. In my thirties I had change of life style, got my bike out of the garage again and began looking after my health and fitness.

Finding love for the bike again, I decided to encourage others so they could reap the same benefits and rewards. I trained as a British Cycling ride leader in 2013 and have enjoyed meeting many new friends through regular rides.

I have arranged many Coast 2 Coast cycle rides and also completed it myself. I love to enthusiastically encourage and help others to achieve the best they can.

It's never too late to improve personal health and wellbeing. I'm currently studying towards Level 2 Mental Health Awareness, and also working towards attaining Bikeability National Standard Instructors certificate.
